Welcome to Domain Crane ("the Service"), a utility provided by DomainCrane ("we," "us," or "our"). These Terms of Service and Privacy Policy ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Domain Crane application and any related services. By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, you may not access or use the Service.
1. Description of Service
Domain Crane is a tool designed to help users track, organize, and check the status of domain names. The Service utilizes third-party APIs and services, including but not limited to Google Firebase and public WHOIS/RDAP servers, to provide its functionality.
2. User Accounts
You may use the Service without creating a permanent account. In this case, your data is stored locally in your browser, and we have no control over it. You acknowledge that if you clear your browser's data or switch devices, this data will be permanently lost.
To save your data for access across multiple devices, you may create an account using an email and password. You are responsible for safeguarding your password and for any activities or actions under your account. You agree to provide accurate and complete information when creating an account.
3. Data Collection and Privacy Policy
Minimal Data Collection:
We are committed to collecting as little personal information as possible. We do NOT collect or store names, addresses, phone numbers, payment information, or any other personal identifying information beyond what is listed below.
Information You Provide:
- Account Information: When you create an account, we collect and store ONLY your email address for the purposes of authentication, account management, and email alert notifications. By creating an account, you consent to receive periodic emails about Domain Crane features, updates, and announcements. You may unsubscribe from these communications at any time.
- User Content: We collect and store the lists of domain names, notes, tags, and preferences that you enter into the Service ("User Content"). This data is necessary for the core functionality of the Service.
Payment Information:
The Service offers paid subscription tiers (Plus and Pro) processed through Stripe, and optional donations via PayPal. We do NOT collect, store, or have access to any payment information, credit card details, or billing addresses. All payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe and PayPal. Stripe subscription data (subscription ID and status) is stored to manage your account tier. We may receive transactional emails from payment processors, but detailed payment information is NOT stored in our systems or databases.
Third-Party Services & Data Storage:
- The Service is built on the Google Firebase platform, a third-party backend service. All of your data, including your email, hashed password, and User Content, is stored and managed on Google Firebase servers. We do not store or have access to your plain-text password. Your use of the Service constitutes your agreement to Google's terms and privacy policies as they relate to their infrastructure's data storage and security.
- The Service uses Firebase App Check with Google reCAPTCHA to protect against abuse. This service may collect hardware and software information, such as device and application data, for security purposes.
- The WHOIS/RDAP lookup functionality interacts with public, third-party registration data servers. We do not control these servers or the data they provide.
Use of Information:
- We use your information solely to provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
- We will not sell, rent, or share your personal information or User Content with third parties for marketing purposes.
- We may access your information to respond to support requests or to troubleshoot technical issues.
4. Disclaimer of Warranties
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS, WITHOUT ANY WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING, BUT NOT LIMITED TO, IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.
WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT: A) THE SERVICE WILL FUNCTION UNINTERRUPTED, SECURELY, OR BE AVAILABLE AT ANY PARTICULAR TIME OR LOCATION; B) ANY ERRORS OR DEFECTS WILL BE CORRECTED; C) THE DATA PROVIDED BY THE SERVICE, INCLUDING DOMAIN EXPIRATION DATES AND AVAILABILITY, WILL BE ACCURATE, COMPLETE, RELIABLE, OR TIMELY; D) THE SERVICE IS FREE OF VIRUSES OR OTHER HARMFUL COMPONENTS.
YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE IS SOLELY AT YOUR OWN RISK.
5. Limitation of Liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, IN NO EVENT SHALL DOMAINCRANE, ITS AFFILIATES, OPERATORS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS, BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION, LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, RESULTING FROM:
- YOUR ACCESS TO OR USE OF OR INABILITY TO ACCESS OR USE THE SERVICE;
- ANY CONDUCT OR CONTENT OF ANY THIRD PARTY ON THE SERVICE;
- ANY CONTENT OBTAINED FROM THE SERVICE, INCLUDING ANY RELIANCE ON THE ACCURACY OF SUCH CONTENT;
- ANY ERRORS, OMISSIONS, OR INACCURACIES IN DOMAIN REGISTRATION DATA, EXPIRATION DATES, OR AVAILABILITY STATUS;
- ANY BUSINESS LOSSES, MISSED OPPORTUNITIES, OR FINANCIAL DAMAGES RESULTING FROM RELIANCE ON THE SERVICE;
- UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS, USE, OR ALTERATION OF YOUR TRANSMISSIONS, ACCOUNT, OR CONTENT, INCLUDING ANY SUCH UNAUTHORIZED ACCESS OR USE RESULTING FROM A FAILURE OF OUR OWN SYSTEMS OR SECURITY MEASURES, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE, AND EVEN IF A REMEDY SET FORTH HEREIN IS FOUND TO HAVE FAILED OF ITS ESSENTIAL PURPOSE.
YOU EXPLICITLY ACKNOWLEDGE AND AGREE THAT DOMAINCRANE AND ITS OPERATORS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY DATA LOSS, DATA LEAKS, DATA BREACHES, SECURITY BREACHES, SERVICE INTERRUPTIONS, SERVICE FAILURES, INACCURATE DATA, OR ANY OTHER DAMAGES OR LOSSES ARISING FROM THE USE OF THE SERVICE, REGARDLESS OF CAUSE, WHETHER DUE TO NEGLIGENCE, SYSTEM FAILURE, THIRD-PARTY ACTIONS, OR ANY OTHER REASON.
THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED FOR INFORMATIONAL PURPOSES ONLY. WE MAKE NO GUARANTEES ABOUT THE ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR TIMELINESS OF ANY DOMAIN REGISTRATION DATA. YOU ASSUME ALL RISK AND RESPONSIBILITY FOR VERIFYING ANY INFORMATION OBTAINED THROUGH THE SERVICE BEFORE TAKING ANY ACTION BASED ON SUCH INFORMATION.
6. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless DomainCrane and its operators, licensees, licensors, employees, contractors, agents, officers, and directors, from and against any and all claims, damages, obligations, losses, liabilities, costs or debt, and expenses (including but not limited to attorney's fees), resulting from or arising out of: a) your use and access of the Service, by you or any person using your account and password; b) a breach of these Terms; c) your reliance on any information obtained from the Service; or d) any decisions or actions you take based on data provided by the Service.
7. Changes to Terms
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. We will provide notice of any changes by posting the new Terms within the Service. By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.
8. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Iowa, United States, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
